A tour in Athens, is the definition of contrast since it combines many of the principal modern and classical sights: ancient monuments planted in the city, reminding the glorious past of this modern European metropolis!
Starting from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, we can see the Presidential Palace (ex Royal palace), government buildings and elegant homes and we continue to the Panathenian Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896). Drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and view the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, University, National Library and Omonia Square.
Meanwhile, the presence of the classical element is noticeable, visiting the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and the site that most shows and reminds the astonishing beauty and glory of Ancient Athens: Acropolis! Climbing the holly rock, we see the propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion with its Porch of Maidens to end with the awesome Parthenon. We also visit the Acropolis Museum
Driving along the coastal road, passing from the beautiful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkisa, watching how the countless coves make an admirable natural embroidery, we reach Cape Sunion. The splendid view to the Saronic Golf and the spectacular Temple of Posseidon overlooking the Aegean Sea, creates an astonishing impression
Ancient Corinth presents great archaeological interest. Starting from Athens, we drive to the Corinth Canal which offers really breathtaking views (short stop). After a while we reach Ancient Corinth, where Saint Paul lived and preached during two years. As an ancient city, Corinth was rich and glorious and this is evident from its remains including the huge agora (market place) and Apollo¡¯s Temple (6th C.B.C). We continue by a brief stop at the site of the ancient port of Kechreai where St. Paul disembarked. Return to Athens
Driving along the costal road to Mycenae, we stop for a while to admire the spectacular views of Corinth Canal. After arriving to Mycenae we visit the remains of the ancient city which at its time of acme, was the most important city of Greece, creating a glorious culture known as the Mycenean culture. We will admire the lionesses gate, the tomb of Agamemnon and the Palace. We continue our way to Epidaurus through Argos and Nauplia, one of the most beautiful and picturesque cities of Greece. After lunch, we visit ancient Epidaurus with its famous ancient theater. Return to Athens.
Visit the center of the ancient world! Starting from Athens, we drive through Levadia and the picturesque Arachova, (known for its bright multi coloured carpets), and we arrive to Delphi, the most famous sanctuary of Ancient Greece, the sanctuary of Apollo. We will visit the Museum, which hosts archaeological treasures such as The Charioteer, and then proceed through the sacred way to the Athenian treasury. We continue and finish by visiting the Temple of Apollo, the Castalia Spring etc. Return in Athens.
1st Day : Driving through Levadia and Arachova, we reach Delphi. Stop for one and a half hour. Departure to Kalambaka through central Greece, passing by the towns of Amfissa, Lamia and Trikala We will admire the beauty of the Thessalian plain, the most fertile part of Greece. Arrival and overnight to Kalambaka
2nd Day : Morning visit to Meteora. On the top of high rocks lie a whole complex of Monasteries admirable for their style an site. Meteora consists a great monument not only to the world of Christianity but to anyone who can estimate the beauty, holiness and awe that inspires this unique place. Returning to Athens we pass through Thermopylae where Leonidas was so bravely killed. Palace. We continue our way to Epidaurus through Argos and Nauplia, one of the most beautiful and picturesque cities of Greece. After lunch, we visit ancient Epidaurus with its famous ancient theater. Return to Athens
